WOO BENCHMARK CAMPAIGN -> 2021 AND ONWARDS!
by A Workshop of Our Own
Aspen Golann
My first extended experience as the only woman in a classroom was as a furniture student. It was weird how much the experience wore me down. It was confusing to feel so defined by my gender, to think about it all the time - something I'd never done before. In moments of isolation, the thought of WOO was a buoy for me. WOO helped me understand that gender is still a factor in the wood shop and that I wasn't struggling alone.
It was a year before I visited WOO, and another before Kelly Harris, Claire Minihan, Chelsea Witt and I arrived as the WOO Pit Crew to revamp the space. We worked harder than I thought possible during the week before everything shut down and our new normal began.
Another year later I'm a board member and get to help bring WOO to YOU virtually! Every experience with WOO has been nourishing, productive and powerful. I'm proud to be part of WOO and I'll keep working hard to make sure WOO stays strong and stays open!

Sweepstakes #1: Danish Cord Stool by Christina Boy!
We kicked off our sweepstakes series with a handcrafted stool by furniture maker and WOO instructor, Christina Boy.
